On Monday May 18th, at 5 p.m., Italian Literature professor Stefano U. Baldassarri will give a lecture in Great Britain at the Italian Graduate Seminar of Oxford University titled 'Like Fathers like Sons: Accounts of the Origins of the City in Late Medieval and Early Renaissance Florence.' The lecture will focus on the main theses regarding the foundation of Florence from the anonymous 'Chronica Civitatis' (ca. 1210) to Angelo Poliziano's letter to Piero de' Medici (1492), thus comprising a time period when Florence underwent significant, dramatic events that would shape its image (and that of the whole Renaissance, too) for centuries to come.
