We are pleased to announce that the proceedings of the international conference titled "Proxima Studia: arte e letteratura a Firenze (1300-1600)," which was held at Palazzo Rucellai on 21-22 October 2009, will be published in 2010 by the prestigious publishing house Fabrizio Serra (Pisa-Rome) as a monograph in the journal "Letteratura e Arte". The volume will collect essays on the relationship between art and literature in late medieval and Renaissance Florence by the following scholars: Stefano U. Baldassarri, Gabriella Battista, Concetta Bianca, Luca Boschetto, Marcello Ciccuto, Giovanni Cipriani, Michael Kwakkelstein, Florence Moly, Massimiliano Rossi, Piero Scapecchi, Giovanni Sinicropi and Marco Villoresi. The proceedings will comprise a wide range of interdisciplinary topics such as humanist assessments of Giotto’s pioneering role, textual evidence of the widespread cult of Marian images in fifteenth-century local piety, the first edition of Vasari's 'Lives' and the importance of the Etruscan heritage in shaping the image of Quattrocento Florence. |
