Thursday,  May 21stat 6:30pm Movie & Aperitivo We will have an “aperitivo” at the Caffè Colle Bereto and then we will go to the Odeon Cinehall to watch the movie “Angels & Demons” by Ron Howard with Tom Hanks, Ewan McGregor, Pierfrancesco Favino. The movie will be shown in English! Friday, May 22nd & Saturday, May 23rd Institute Optional Trip to Siena & San Gimignano If you signed up for the Siena & San Gimignano trip, you are in for a full immersion of the medieval cities of Tuscany!  Monday, May 25that 2:30pm The Secret Rooms of Palazzo Vecchio with Giorgio Vasari We will be guided through the Secret Rooms of Palazzo Vecchio to discover all the secret passages and the life at the time of the Medici Family. Tuesday, June 9that 3:30pm Exploration of Traditional Craftsmanship in the Oltrarno Join us as we take a guided tour in Italian and English through 2 of the traditional craftsman “botteghe” that are typical of the Oltrarno area. The first shop is one of a creator of fantasy jewelry in unusual material (plastics, resins, synthetics) variously combined to create objects of unique color and form. The second one is Vintage clothing and accessories shop. We will finish our tour visiting the Santo Spirito Church. If you would like to participate, please sign up at the student services desk by Wednesday, June 3rd at 5:00pm.  Saturday, June 13that 4:00pm Do you want to watch a "Calcio Storico" match? Florence has been accounted for the birth of Italian soccer in 1530. In the first editions of this tournament only the members of the noble families could participate, and the clothes were fit for the event; this tradition continues still today. But the thing that most distinguishes this sport is something definitely less noble: the rule according to which "everything is allowed", with fights even in places very distant from where the action is… A GAME DEFINITELY NOT TO BE MISSED! If you want to participate please sign up at the Student Services desk by Monday, June 1st at 5:00 p.m.  Monday, June 15that 9:00pm Opera "Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi We’ll go to the Opera “Aida”, by Giuseppe Verdi at the Boboli garden. Aida is one of the most famous operas and the location in the Boboli garden makes it an event not to be missed! If you want to participate please sign up at the Student Services desk by Monday May 25th at 5:00 p.m.  Wednesday, June 24th at 9:00pm Michael Laurence Nyman in Concert Michael Laurence Nyman, is an English composer of minimalist music, pianist, librettist and musicologist, perhaps best known for the many movie scores he wrote during his lengthy collaboration with the filmmaker Peter Greenaway, and his multi-platinum soundtrack album to Jane Campion's The Piano. If you want to participate please sign up at the Student Services desk by Wednesday June 17th at 5:00 p.m.  Sunday, June 24thFeast of The feast of St. John (Giovanni) the Baptist, patron of Florence, is celebrated by the Florentines in a very particular way with a no-holds-barred Renaissance version of soccer. There will be fireworks at 10 PM! It is an event not to be missed!  From Monday, June 22nd to Thursday, June 25th at 6:00pm FAREWELL GELATO! Come with us to “Gelateris dei Neri” to discover and taste the flavor of the Italian Gelato!!
